11 – the green room
A child puts us on notice – we must not only save the planet, we have to at least consider being part of a greater plan to help assist in saving all living things. A little one awakens our compassion that has been long lost to a belief that it is all about us.
I didn’t think about the environment when I was working all the time because I spent my days indoors. But when I was home and my little girl wanted to go outside, I had to start noticing what kind of world she was stepping into. I had to hear myself telling my daughter that her environment isn’t safe. If she can’t trust the air and water, what can she trust? What are we creating here?
I think the answer to all that troubles our world today can be found in the tears of a truly frightened child. All they need is love, as do the rest of us. A child opens us to the idea that we should love one another as we love them. And as we work to save our planet, let’s not forget to save each other.
